Check out the resurrected Epstein's Customer Hall of Fame. It's been a while since we've accepted new members but maybe it's time we opened the books. (Note: If you'd like to send in an application please be sure to include an appropriate bribe.)
The official HJE ball cap. Made right here in Kansas City by Sandlot out of navy melton wool. Green underbill. Adjustable snap back. These hats are 100% USA made.
We're often asked for recommendations on a wide variety of KC related things so we thought we'd put a list together of other KC companies we like and recommend on a regular basis. I'm sure it will grow but this is a start.
Buckin Billy Ray sold this axe to me without knowing. It's a very nice axe and works very well as a splitter. Sand the handle and apply linseed oil and you have a sweet chopping machine.
I bought this for splitting wood wanting something good quality but on a budget. I already had all my wood split with a hudraulic splitter for this year by the time it arrived due to fulfillment delays on council tools part but it was honestly worth the wait to get a 2026 production with the special flag stamping. On the other side it is stamped with "council fire"
Handle is great quality and well hafted. With the limited splitting I did do with it seems like it has no problem splitting wood and without getting stuck.
I have about three generations of files in the shop, now they have proper handles. Nice feel to them, Way better than the old rotted wood wrapped in electrical tape, they wore before.
The council tool pack axe is a super high quality axe for a variety of uses. The American flag variant is a neat touch. Great tool at a great price! What else do you need??!!
Called in and asked for the darkest and most figured handle, got a great example that looks incredible with a little boiled linseed oil. Council tool makes some timeless classics, the boys axe is top of that list in my mind. A tool that will last a lifetime is a special thing, and made in America to boot.
This knife along with a lot of Green River Knives cut their way across the West and for good reason. Great little knife for general kitchen and camp utility. The carbon steel is great, takes and holds a great edge. Just wipe it off when you're done using it and it'll last a long time. Handle is a little rough but historically they didn't even have handles pre-installed so I'll take it.
I bought this knife mainly for the history but actually found myself using it frequently. I was a little worried that the heat treat would be a little soft since Dexter is really a culinary brand but was pleasantly surprised. Was even able to get sparks of the carbon steel blade with a piece of quartz. So glad they kept the original carbon steel and didn't switch to some crappy stainless. It takes and holds an exceptional edge and will last a long time if you just take a little care of it. I'm buying another.
